Mujra Artists of Faras Road

This blog is dedicated to the surviving issues of Mujra artists living in the Faras Road area of Mumbai. The Mujra dancers are being illegally banned from performing their traditional art and are being threatened of evacuation from their ancestral land by a mafia nexus of police, real estate developers and politicians. Mujra artists in Faras road are a community of traditional artists who have been brought to colonial Bombay when the British administration designed an area called Play House to entertain their elites nearly 200 years back.
